Role Title: Adolescent Suicide & Self-Harm Specialist
Role Type: Contractor
Location: Remote
micro1 is engaging Adolescent Suicide & Self-Harm Specialists to contribute to a unique customer project focused on enhancing the assessment and management of adolescent suicide and self-harm risk. In this role, you'll apply your expertise to help train next-generation AI systems. Your work will shape how models learn, reason, and perform through high-quality, real-world input. No prior experience in AI is required, your domain knowledge is what matters. You will assess complex adolescent presentations, develop clear clinical guidance, and document risk formulations that inform effective, practical responses. Your insights will directly impact the development of tools seeking to reliably differentiate between ideation, intent, and acute risk, with the goal of supporting non-specialist users in real-world scenarios.
Scope of Work
- Review adolescent case materials and generate structured, written risk assessments for suicide and self-harm presentations.
- Apply validated tools (e.g., C-SSRS) and expert risk formulation to inform clear, actionable guidance.
- Differentiate between self-harm, suicidal ideation, and intent, and characterize acuity levels with precision.
- Recommend response protocols, including escalation pathways, safety planning (e.g., Stanley-Brown), and means-restriction strategies.
- Identify comorbidities, safeguarding, and contextual factors influencing risk, and incorporate these into assessments.
- Document guidance in clear, research-grade English so non-specialists can implement recommended actions confidently.
- Benchmark and cross-reference risk judgments with established guidelines and peer assessments to ensure consistency.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3, 5+ years post-qualification experience with direct adolescent clinical contact focused on suicide/self-harm risk.
- Specialist credentials in child/adolescent psychiatry or psychology, with demonstrated expertise in suicide/self-harm interventions.
- Active clinical license or registration in good standing, with an active adolescent caseload within the past two years.
- Advanced proficiency in suicide/self-harm risk assessment tools (e.g., C-SSRS, safety planning protocols).
- Familiarity with evidence-based adolescent interventions (e.g., DBT-A, trauma-informed care approaches).
- Exceptional written English (native, or IELTS 7.5+/writing 7.0+, TOEFL 100+, Cambridge C1, C2, or equivalent).
- Desirable: DBT-A or CBT training, crisis or inpatient experience, or contributions to suicidology research or clinical guidelines.
